Experience
UX Design Principal | Amazon Last Mile Delivery & Emerging Tech | Santa Cruz, CA (2020 to present)
As the cross-platform design leader for Last-Mile integrated safety, smart automation, and emerging tech, I define the innovation design strategy for AI-enhanced experiences spanning the global fleet, in-vehicle systems, on-the-road safety, cross-device ecosystem, and integral wearable design. My role is to create and align the UX vision and product roadmap across eight teams and two Amazon orgs to ship integrated, scalable physical and digital solutions.
Last Mile Smart Delivery Van Design (Rivian EDV)
-
Launched the Last Mile Smart Delivery UX at Scale for the Rivian Electric Delivery Van (EDV), spearheading Amazon's first end-to-end physical and digital smart EV design for 100,000 Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) and transporters.
-
Led the critical Amazon-Rivian collaboration on the physical and digital product design, resulting in the successful deployment of 35,000+ EV vans across the US, Canada, and the EU.
-
Achieved a 4.75/5 Delivery Associate satisfaction score for the new smart delivery experience, validating the user-centered design and innovation at high volume.
Future of Last Mile (10-Year Strategic Vision)
-
A moonshot strategy with a development roadmap for Amazon, collaborate with tech, product to align a multi-year, cross-platform roadmap integrating next-generation safety, robotics, AI workflow, autonomous systems, and new services enablers.
-
Directed strategic design roadmap across diverse product owners, focusing on smart contextual automation, wearable system design, and workforce transformation to up-value the human in the loop. Product launched: VAPR (Vision Assisted Package Retrieve) and Smart Augmented Delivery (Smart Glasses)
Next Fleet 2030 and AI initiatives (The best team; Human and Robots working together)
-
Directed the cross-team North Star Vision and Design Strategy for the next-generation EV 2030 Fleet and AI-powered station/mobility initiatives, influencing critical cross-functional alignment and product roadmap operation planning via user-centered design practices.
Digital Product Design Manager | Smart Cockpit & Digital Experience | Santa Clara, CA and China (2018 - 2020)
Led global (US & China) product design teams responsible for executing Byton's "Smart Device on Wheels" vision. Oversaw end-to-end UX for the Multi-display "Digital Lounge" infotainment system and defined the core UX architecture, integrating Contextual Awareness, ADAS, and multi-user shared experiences. Implemented an ultra-lean, iterative UX design process to accelerate innovation and foundational safety UX principles.
-
Defined the Foundational Safety Framework: Solved the core safety paradox of the 48-inch multi-display system by defining the foundational data-driven safety alert framework built on the "Time is the safety currency" principle. This framework built the baseline TRUST required for the entire BYTON product vision, "Smart Device on Wheels".
-
Pioneered a Smart Onboarding System: Designed a pre-personalization UX that learned user preferences before vehicle delivery, eliminating setup friction and transforming the initial customer experience.
-
Architected the Core Cockpit Experience: Directed the global UX teams from concept to production design for core platform features developed in the US, including unified passenger infotainment, connected mobile apps, and intuitive comfort controls. And lastly, integrate Chinese localization design.
