Head Up and Eyes On The World
Strategic Project Highlights (An overview)
Motivation and Strategic Context
The 'Last 100 Yards' is the most chaotic part of any delivery, and data shows it is the single biggest cause of transporters attrition. As the business evolves into high-speed Quick Commerce, this challenge becomes even more critical to solve at scale for performance, safety, and ultimately reduced cognitive effort.
Our vision is to build a logistics innovation that is accessible and scalable for everyone. We will achieve this by transforming our delivery associates into a high-value, future-proof workforce, sparked by a simple question: What if the system sense the world what the associates see and predict what s/he is going to need?
Problem Space
Delivery associates currently rely on smartphones for the 'Last 100 Yards'. This forces a constant "heads-down" interaction modal during the whole day, which creates three distinct problems:
-
Increased Safety Risks: With their eyes on the screen, associates have split attention, increasing the risk of trips, falls, and other accidents in a dynamic environment.
-
Operational Inefficiency: The one-handed operation is ergonomically clumsy, slowing down tasks that naturally require both hands, like handling packages or opening doors.
-
High Cognitive Load: Associates are forced to constantly switch context between digital information on their phone and the physical world, leading to mental fatigue and a higher potential for error.
The Road to Disrupt Our Legacy - From Setback to a Clear Baseline
Our journey began with a clear vision: a "Head Up, Eyes On the World" experience. We explored a wide range of form factors, but soon faced a critical safety incident that became our turning point. It forced us to reset our initial hypotheses and refocus the project on our most fundamental value: Safety First.
To move forward, we went back to basics. Through countless hours of performing deliveries ourselves in various conditions, we gained deep empathy for our associates. This hands-on work was essential, allowing us to establish a clear, foundational product baseline built on real-world needs.
This new confidence now guides the project's next phase: developing a production-ready design. As the lead for the Human Interaction Experience squad, I am now overseeing the integration of the physical hardware, digital interface, and overall wearable system.
Milestones

-
Product Design & Development: 2023 - Q4 2025 public unveil.
What delivery associates told us:
"...It was a super smooth day; I genuinely got done about an hour earlier than I normally would. It was highly efficient..."
"...I was able to fulfill a lot of stops today, it was a record. I did 1XX stops in X hrs. I normally don't even move close to that..."
"...I would choose this over phone every day. I think it is just too efficient to pass up. It's very quick and very professional. It is very good looking and futuristic and cool. Beyond that, it is very beneficial for anyone to use it. reduces strain over the phone..."
And?
This project addresses a critical business growth bottleneck: solving the complex and inneficciency of the "Last 100 Yards" is vital to reduce attrition and enabling future growth. In the end, we are very CONFIDENT that we solved the "Last 100 Yards" challenges with Head Up, Eyes On the World powered by technologies that senses the surrounding of what delivery associates see.
Most importantly, through a "Safety First" pivot and deep, hands-on research and iteration with design improvements, we have validated our direction and established a de-risked foundation to confidently proceed with development.
